66 Protestant churches in the state capital are part of the Protestant parish of Stuttgart. There are also numerous institutions and organisations. Around 162,000 Stuttgart residents belong to the Protestant Church. 

The Catholic Municipal Deaneryof Stuttgart covers the Stuttgart state capital region with its 46 parishes - around 150,000 people in Stuttgart belong to the Catholic Church. 18 communities of Catholics with a different native language reflect the international character of Stuttgart.

Around 10% of all Stuttgart residents are Muslims. There are over 20 Muslim religious institutions in Stuttgart, organised on an ethnic and sectarian basis. The communities provide prayer rooms and religion-orientated activities.
 

Jewish life in Stuttgart is practised, taught and lived and breathed in the Stuttgart synagogue. With numerous religious activities and services, the Israeli religious community of Württemberg also offers a Jewish primary school and nursery school in addition to religious education.
